Permission from the Florida Department of Education to demolish and then rebuild school facilities is a three step process - (1) a Spot Survey for permission to renovate or replace; (2) a Castaldi application; and (3) a final Spot Survey for permission to demolish and rebuild. For the Sarasota High School project, which entails demolishing building 3 (West Cafeteria), building 16 (East Cafeteria), and parts of building 5 (Female lockers and two-story classroom building), the first step was accomplished as part of the 2011 Five Year Plant Survey.
